Today another university in Texas, this time Texas Wesleyan University banned use of e cigarettes on its grounds. We also have heard that Plano and other North Texas school districts are considering a ban of e-cigarettes and vaping on school grounds.
The smoke free policy at Wesleyan was created by the Student Government Association. They started working on the new policy last year. Majority of the students voted to go smoke-free and left it up to the school administration to set the policy. The official ban became effective Wednesday, August 20th, 2014.
Tarrant County College implemented its own ban in 2009, University of Texas in Arlington followed the suit in 2011, and the University of North Texas enforced same ban in 2013. On the other side Texas Christian University allows tobacco products and e-cigarettes on campus but at least 25 feet from any entrance or exit. Wesleyan students caught violating the rule may be reported to the Dean of Students for “disciplinary action,”. Will schools in Dallas, Huston and San Antonio will follow? So right now, for electronic cigarette retailers, distributors and manufacturers in Texas it is more important than ever to have the right e cigarette insurance coverage in place.
